Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is performed by selectively treating the hair follicle without causing thermal damage to the surrounding tissue. Laser light is absorbed by melanin which is the target in hair. The light is converted to heat and then the heat damages the bulge and bulb disabling the hair structure.

Hair has 3 growing cycles: Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen. Our treatment is most effective in Anagen phase (the active growth phase) because the hair then contains an abundance of melanin and cells are rapidly dividing. Thus a series is recommended of 6-10 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks with the average of 6 weeks apart to ensure targeting the follicles in their Anagen growth phase. Patients needs to be clean shaven for treatment the day before treatment. No waxing 2-4 weeks before treatment and no waxing once treatments are started. No tanning or sunless tanner for 2 weeks before treatment.
